HEAT PUMP INSTALLATION

Air-source heat pumps are an efficient, affordable & more eco-friendly home heating alternative to gas boilers; harnessing energy from the environment with up to 75% less carbon emissions.

SMARTER, GREENER & MORE ENERGY EFFICIENT

Heat pump technology works by harnessing energy from the air outside your property combined with a small amount of electricity to build warmth over time. They can be used to heat your home via radiators, underfloor heating and provide hot water.

For new-build properties air-source heating offers a smarter, greener and more energy efficient heating solution with a similar installation costs to traditional gas boilers. With a turbulent energy market and rapidly increasing gas prices, an air-source heat pump can use up to four times less energy than even the most efficient gas heating systems.

WHAT PROPERTIES ARE SUITABLE FOR AIR-PUMP HEATING?

Most UK houses are suitable for conversion to a heat pump providing their is enough outside space to house the unit, typically between 1-1.5 metres high and 0.5-1 metre wide. Currently heat pumps are not usually suitable for most flats or appartments.

Financial help for installation costs from the government may also be available for some house owners under the Boiler Upgrade Scheme which replaces the Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme.

AIR-SOURCE HEAT PUMPS - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Yes, they do. Heat pumps are used in many countries with temperature extremes far greater than the UK. They can operate at temperatures as low as -20 °C, but during prolonged cold spells they utilise slightly more electricity when the heat pump can’t extract as much energy as required from the atmosphere.

  • Air-Source heat pumps are one the most cost efficient home heating systems and therefore can provide cost savings on your energy bills. With the global increases in gas prices an air-source heat pump is an even more attractive option for prospective buyers and home owners.

Factors such as property size, number of occupants and insulation will all impact upon running costs but our expert team will be able to advise on potential costs compared to a traditional gas boiler before you decide to get one installed.

  • Air-source heat pumps are designed to build heat in your home gradually over time. It is therefore important that your home is sufficiently well insulated to retain the heat generated. Homes with an Energy Performance Certification rating of D and above are normally well insulated enough to effectively run heat pump systems. Our expert installers will assess your property and advise should they have any concerns around your current home insulation.
